Aisling & Jason - 2nd February 2013

While planning a wedding can be one of the most stressful times in a women’s life (let’s be honest, how much input does the man actually have?!), the Convent staff made planning our day a lot less stressful than all the hype had lead me to believe. I was Gaine & robes de mariée colonne
provided with suggestions on hairdressers, makeup artists, florists, DJ’s, Celebrants and numerous other things that hadn’t even crossed my mind. Seating arrangements were stressful enough for me!

The venue itself is just so beautiful, just trying to choose locations to have photos taken was hard. The grounds are stunning with all the views and gorgeous flowers and trees, our photos came up beautifully.

I can’t say thank you enough to Tina and her staff for making our wholeRobes de bal experience, from planning the wedding, the ceremony, reception and after party in the Altar Bar – the best experience to date.

We will be back for our anniversary xo

The Ceremony

We chose to have our ceremony in the conservatory, with the panoramic glass windows, looking out onto the gorgeous gardens, it was beautiful. The only change I would make is I would open the bi-folding windows completely as, while I did not notice it (due to nerves I assume) my sisters, being my bridesmaids mentioned that they were quite hot standing with their backs to the windows and the sun shining in on them through the glass.

The Reception

Entrees (served alternating):

1) Hoi sin poached beef fillet with cucumber noodles, bean shoots, toasted sesame seeds, coriander and sliced chili salad
2) Roasted pear, blue cheese, prosciuotto and sweet balsamic

Mains (served alternating):

1) Slow braised ox cheek in red wine and root vegetables on creamy potato mash green beans and cherry tomato
2) Spanish flavoured chicken breast, with braised potato, red onion, chorizo, saffron and thyme with mild chili and garlic tossed black Tuscan cabbage.

The staff at the Convent are delightful. Their attention to detail and attentiveness was spot on. Wine glasses were never empty, empty beer bottles were never left on the table and the champagne was always chilled and flowing.

Cocktails (Pimms, Fruit & Lemonade & Champagne Bellini’s) and champagne before the reception was a fabulous touch and I can not say enough about the Altar Bar, it was the absolute perfect way to finish the evening. My friends and family still talk about our wedding,

Dessert (served roaming):

1) Roaming petit fours: Lemon tarts, Apple Crumble and Mango Sorbet

Rutherford Entertainment

I would also like to personally recommend our DJ, who was fabulous, he has already been used by 6 other friends that attended our wedding for various other events, 30th’s, weddings etc. He was fab, Robbie from Rutherford Entertainment.

Yes, we had little jars of mixed berry jam and jars of chilli chutney in little hessian bags for each guest. The labels on the jars had our names, the wedding date, what was in the jar and “made with love”. The Hessian bags had a little tag hanging off with Aisling & Jason 02.02.13, printed from our invitation company so that it matched.

My two sisters, my Mother and I all made the jams and chutneys together, saved on cost and it was lovely to spend a little time together that was less stressful than most other aspects of wedding planning! Also I was a little over getting the standard stubby holder or bottle stopper as favours.

Other notes

I was born and bread in Ireland and chose the Convent not only for its beauty but also after learning from Tina that it was once the home to the Irish Presentation Sisters, I felt it was very fitting. I had family fly out from Ireland for the wedding and the day and the venue just came together perfectly, I loved every aspect. The Convent has the most amazing and magical feel about it and Tina made our day (and night) just so easy and so much fun.

We had a ball!
