The Convent Gallery was THE perfect wedding venue. We fell in love with it as soon as we saw it (I mean, what is not to love?) and the flexibility and friendliness of Tina and her team made our decision really easy. We live in Sydney however distance was no issue for the Convent team, allowing a seamless and organised lead up. We loved that we could have our entire day in 3 different locations, however within the same venue, creating a gorgeous journey for our guests. And best of all was the bridal suite meaning at the end of the night we only needed to pop upstairs. An amazing venue, gorgeous gardens, good food, lovely service and an unforgettable day for us and our guests. Thank you Convent x

The Ceremony

We were married in the upper garden overlooking Daylesford and it was everything I imagined. I really wanted a rustic yet modern ceremony and I loved that there wasn’t a conventional aisle for me to walk down and that we didn’t need to dress the area up too much. We added white lanterns, white chairs, some cushions and flowers – and it was gorgeous. The afternoon sun was amazing for the photos and it was super quiet making it feel really intimate and special.

During planning for the wedding, I came across Josh & Jenna’s wedding photos (from the Block) who also married at The Convent and saw they used white lanterns and this was my inspiration.

The Reception

Entrees (served alternating):

1) Hoi sin poached beef fillet with cucumber noodles, bean shoots, toasted sesame seeds, coriander and sliced chili salad
2) Roasted pear, blue cheese, prosciuotto and sweet balsamic

Mains (served alternating):

1) Lamb rump marinated with oregano, garlic and lemon grilled and roasted with scallop potato, minted peas and buttered leeks, olive and tomato remoulade
2) Spanish flavoured chicken breast, with braised potato, red onion, chorizo, saffron and thyme with mild chili and garlic tossed black Tuscan cabbage.

We were unable to undertake a tasting as we live in Sydney which worried me as my partner and I are real foodies. However a friend had been married a year earlier at the Convent and had let me know the food was outstanding. I trusted her opinion and she wasn’t wrong. The menu selection was excellent, the food was delicious and the servings were really generous. My husband and I also really wanted bowls of french fries to accompany the main (I love fries and my husband is Belgian!) and the Convent was more than accommodating with this bazaar request.

I loved that The Convent didn’t charge to cut our wedding cake (cakage) like other reception venues.

Other notes:

We had a lot of International and Interstate guests so everyone made a weekend of it in Daylesford whilst experiencing regional Australia. Everyone was relaxed which made for a relaxed wedding environment.
