From the minute we saw The Convent Gallery website we wanted to have our wedding there, and were convinced on our first visit when we met Tina for a tour of the venue. The Convent’s buildings are uniquely beautiful and Tina obviously knew what she was doing and really seemed to care about us, so we felt immediately that we could entrust her with our big day.

And it was every bit as fantastic as we thought it would be – we just had the best time, not just because we enjoyed it but because our guests all had a ball too – some even said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to!
Many of our guests loved the way that the day progressed through a number of beautiful spaces.

The Convent’s buildings and gardens are perfect for wedding photography and the nearby botanical gardens also resulted in some beautiful shots.

We’re so grateful to the Convent Team for making our wedding day a hugely successful and enjoyable day.

The Ceremony

Our ceremony was held in the chapel, a beautiful, atmospheric space. We chose the chapel because we wanted the special atmosphere it provided, while at the same time being able to have a civil ceremony that matched our personalities – Charlotte walked down the aisle to Howling For You by the Black Keys! Tina took great care to run through the ceremony twice with us and our bridesmaids and groomsmen so that everyone knew exactly what to do on the day – this really helped and the ceremony went perfectly. Although we still struggled to get the rings on each others fingers!

MUSIC FOR CEREMONY:

Bridal Procession – Howling For You, Black Keys
Signing of the Register, Cinematic Orchestra
Recessional – Hallelujah Chorus, Mormon Tabernacle Choir

The Reception

Entrees (served alternating):

1) Loukaniko – traditional Greek sausage made with pork citrus peel and fennel seed, served with tzatziki and red onion and salsa
2) Trio of smoked trout, smoked salmon and eel roulettes with grissini and horseradish, dill dressing

Mains (served alternating):

1) Slow roasted Lamb shoulder with warm farrow, heirloom tomato and basil salad drizzled with yoghurt herb dressing.
2) Spanish flavoured chicken breast, with braised potato, red onion, chorizo, saffron and thyme with mild chili and garlic tossed black Tuscan cabbage.

Everyone thought the food was delicious! The table service at dinner and general organisation of the day was terrific. We couldn’t have been happier with the hospitality and friendliness demonstrated by the Convent Gallery staff.

Other notes

We were very grateful that our Guest Slips were collected and saved rather than thrown out at the end of the night – we cherish the things our guests wrote on the day.
The fact that we didn’t have to worry about anything on the day is testament to the excellent organisation and professionalism of the Convent Gallery team. We were also very impressed when we learned that rather than throw unwanted decor items out after the wedding they were given to a local school.
