Michelle & Brent – 15 March 2015

We decided to hold our ceremony in the Upper Upper Garden because the view of Daylesford is breathtaking. We stood on a rug from our home during the ceremony and read our vows from hand made cards. Our mothers read a poem about marriage which was a very special moment. We hired white chairs and hung some lanterns in the trees – the upper garden doesn’t need much decoration. One thing that was really nice was that the ceremony felt intimate because we were able to stand close to our family and friends.
We did struggle to choose where we wanted to hold our ceremony. Because we loved both the Upper Upper Garden and the Atrium decking.
But we felt at ease knowing that if it was raining on the day we had an equally beautiful inside spot for the ceremony under the glass roof of the St Lawrence room atrium.
MUSIC FOR CEREMONY:
We had a live guitarist, Simon Wright, who performed our ceremony and reception music.
Bridal Processional – Tenerife sea, Ed Sheeran
Signing of the register – Tenerife sea, Instrumental version
Bride + Groom Entrance – Happy, Pharrell Williams
First Dance – Into the Mystic, Van Morrison
Father Daughter Dance – Fast Car, Tracy Chapman
We knew a couple of people who had attended weddings at the Convent and they spoke very highly of the wonderful experience that they had. To say that food was amazing is an understatement. We were so very impressed and ended up sharing our meals so that we could taste everything.
We had so much trouble deciding which entree and main to have; there was too many excellent options.
The staff on the night were extremely helpful and we still remember all the smiles and how attentive they were all day and night.
1) Peking duck, avocado salsa, saffron and green onion crepe, palm sugar dressing
2) Pan-fried potato gnocchi tossed in burnt tomato butter, crispy sage and melted cherry tomatoes
Mains (served alternating):
1) Roast Beef rump marinated in thyme, rosemary and garlic on roasted Mediterranean vegetables topped with mustard jus.
2) Pesto grilled chicken fillet, basil mayonnaise, and melted Roma tomato, truffled potato mash, pancetta and onion tossed silverbeet.
Each guest received a little handmade bundle, a CD, pencil and an advice card.
Music is a huge part of our relationship. Brent has always written song lyrics on his birthday and Christmas cards as a way of expressing his emotions. So we decided to make CD’s with all of our favourite songs that remind us of memories from our years together and then our guests would have something to listen to on their drive home from Daylesford!
Every guest received a pencil with a phrase describe our favourite things that go together:
Cookies + Cream, Movies + Choctops, Coffee + Cake, T Sauce + Cheese, Pancakes + Syrup, Roadtrips + Mixtapes.
Our guests could use these pencils to fill out the advice cards which were put in a jar and sealed and we will open them on our first wedding anniversary.
In addition to the these bundles Michelle also hand made all of the reception flowers from crepe paper (it took 12 months!) and our guests picked their favorites and took them home with them.
We still get a kick out of seeing these in our friends and families houses!
During the reception Simon Wright used a loop station to mix and assemble musical arrangements which gave the illusion that he was more than a one man band – our guests loved his performance and danced all night!
The Convent Gallery was the perfect place for our special day. When you are planning for many months before your wedding it is so nice to know that on the day you do not have to worry about anything.
Tina and Marija were only concerned with making our special day about us and it was lovely to be able to have every question answered promptly and that every wish was accommodated. The customer service was exceptional.
The Convent is such a versatile venue. It offered stunning gardens for our ceremony, a lovely light filled spot for canapes and drinks and an intimate space for our reception. We took advantage of using all of the areas in the venue and were able to capture so many unique and varied photos throughout the building and gardens.
We are so grateful for the memories, Thank you Convent x
