Dean Smith

Living opposite an historic gold mine strewn with volcanic rock, quartz, ochre and machine relics, Smith naturally drew these elements into his ceramic work. Rocks, crystals and machine parts have become the defining aesthetic of his current work.
Smith has exhibited in galleries in Victoria and Western Australia.  His work is housed in both public and private collections in Australia and overseas.  The recipient of a number of awards, Smith has most recently received The Premier’s Award for Excellence at the Tasmanian Craft Fair in 2010.
